Bassett corporate offered to accept the return for a restocking fee and issued the amount as a gift card with a discount on any items purchased. This was acceptable to us and allows us to get furniture that we can use.

Lesson learned is that you must sit in furniture with exact configuration before purchasing. If it is not on the floor do not order it thinking it will be just like ....

Here is why you should NOT buy from Bassett Furniture: In mid February, 2017 we purchased the Bassett Bedford L-shaped powered sectional in leather and a Bedford powered swivel rocker also in leather. The units were delivered at the end of March.

At the time of purchase the L-shaped unit was not on display at the store but we were able to sit in a fabric Bedford sofa. We were assured the sectional would have the same feel of the recliner which we were very comfortable in and happy with. The recliner we purchased feels the same as the swivel rocker we sat in at the store and we are very pleased with that purchase. However we are very disappointed with the sectional.

The sectional has a very different feel than the recliner. It is very firm and if we had been told that the sectional may not have the same feel as the rocker we would not have purchased it. In addition, our sectional has 3 power reclining units and 1 curved section. In one of the 3 recliners my wifes feet touch the ground when sitting.

In the other recliners and the curved section the seats are higher so that when sitting my wifes feet are off the ground causing discomfort. Also, when reclining the leg section fully extends before the back of the unit reclines. Because of this the recliners literally cause her pain and she cannot use the furniture. This became an issue only after using the sectional for several weeks.

We contacted the store with our concerns and asked if the extension of the leg section of the recliners could be adjusted so that they were not totally flat and we were told that nothing could be done. We asked if we could exchange our sectional for another product and we were told because our furniture was a custom order nothing could be done for us other than to offer us a 35% discount on another purchase. We have neighbors who purchased custom recliners from Lazy Boy around the same time we purchased ours from Bassett and while they had the same no return policy, Lazy Boy did accept a return/exchange when our neighbors found the recliners not to be comfortable.

Because we had to pay in full before delivery the furniture and the sectional is not usable. Our $6000 purchase got us nothing.
