Beware of Bassett Furniture
I was able to finally get a check from Bassett for the value of the extra chair they sent me. I am satisfied with this resolution.
On January 4th, I placed an order for a Norris Right Chaise Sectional at the Bassett store in Carol Stream, IL. During the time the salesman was helping me, he was very busy running from customer to customer answering questions. He wrote up my order and I signed the paperwork assuming the numbers on the order form matched what I told him I wanted. I had no way of verifying that 3953-20E translates to a Norris Right Chaise Sectional.
When I got my furniture unwrapped and home on January 31st, I realized he had written up the order for a Norris Right Sectional with Chair. I do not need (nor do I have room for) the chair. Thinking this was a simple mis-understanding, my wife contacted the store we purchased from to try and rectify the situation. All we wanted to do was return the extra chair and receive a credit. She eventually received a call back from the store manager. When my wife explained what had happened, he proceeded to rudely laugh at her, and tell her that she should be happy with what she got. He said, "I have a signed sales order and there's nothing more I can do."
I have sent a registered letter to the CEO, dealt with multiple customer service agents, and Bassett refuses to do anything about their mistake.
I would be extremey hesitant to do business with this company, as they purposely mislead customers and do not do business in a reputable way.
