About a year ago we bought a love seat and couch from your store in north Dallas. After looking extensively at furniture retailers, we were impressed with the perceived quality of the furniture, and while we had always been pottery Barn customers, we decided to give Bassetts a try. We told our designer at the store about our wishes to order the sofa with a fabric that would be good for use on a daily basis in our main living area of our home. Our designer suggested an upgraded fabric that would be more durable than the cotton fabric we had been looking at (which was similar to the cotton twill we had before on our prior Pottery Barn sofas, which had worn very well over the years.) She said that the polyester blend would wear better because of the strength of the polyester. So we went ahead with the upgraded fabric and even purchased the extra fabric protection. Shortly after receiving the couches, we noticed serious pilling in the fabric that was pretty severe for having very light use at that point, only about two months. We are a small family of only three and are very easy on our furniture. I called the Bassettโ€™s manager at the north Dallas location where we purchased it and her response was that she would like to help us but that the fabrics were not guaranteed against pilling!! Really?? After only having the sofas for a couple of months, I couldn't believe that they wouldn't honor their commitment to their customers in service and quality. The manager did send out someone to come with a handheld device to โ€œde-pillโ€ the sofa. It looked alright when the workman left, though still not truly satisfactory for basically what was a brand-new sofa and loveseat! Now about one year into our sofa I cannot tell you how bad they look. We spent approximately $4000 on these two pieces of furniture and we are now having to consider either selling these on Craigslist or having to pay ourselves to have them recovered. But, truly, with the high cost of having furniture recovered, we might as well go back to Pottery Barn.

Needless to say we are extremely unhappy with the response from the store manager who never even called to follow up and who was so quick to assert that Bassett did not guarantee the fabric on their sofas. We will not be purchasing any more furniture from Bassett and we will be sure to forewarn friends and family from shopping there.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $4000.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Location: Dallas, Texas
